Wildscapes is a three-puzzle game whose core gameplay is based on swapping two adjacent elements to make three or more matches in rows, columns or other shapes. Each level has a different objective (for example, to collect a certain number of flowers or clear a piece of marshmallow) that must be completed within a given number of moves. Players receive useful energy boosts and activate them by double-clicking or swiping on other elements.

Players receive gold coins as a reward for beating the triple elimination level. Coins can be used to purchase animals, decorations, and plants, all of which in turn can boost the player's zoo level.

The zoo is divided into several areas, each with its own unique flora and fauna. These areas include various regions of the Asian and African savannahs, with animals such as tigers, pandas, lions, peacocks, and more.

The main character is a zookeeper named Zach.

Players can also complete quests given by non-player characters. The reward for completing these tasks is diamonds, which can then be used to purchase additional actions in the level.
